Key Republicans to Intervene in Trump Campaign After ‘Self-Destructive’ Week
Trump on Wednesday dismissed suggestions that the GOP frustration was hurting his campaign, even as he openly contemplated an Election Day loss. Trump hopes that will mean putting in play states in the industrial Midwest. Trump says we have to stop being politically correct, saying we needn’t follow our better angels, that Americans need to tolerate intolerance.

“The current race is which of these two is the more unacceptable, because right now neither of them is acceptable”, Gingrich said in a Wednesday morning telephone interview. He also insisted that distancing themselves from Trump’s statement without withdrawing their support is of no outcome.
On the other side, Democratic candidates haven’t been critical of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as she has faced questions about her use of a private email server at the State Department that officials said could have exposed classified information. The soldier’s father appeared at the Democratic National Convention last week.
“He’s thrown a series of interceptions in the last week that really do not bode well for his campaign”, said Gingrich, who was widely seen as a finalist to be Trump’s running mate.
Just days into the general election, Donald Trump is denying claims of disunity in the Republican party following mounting criticism over his comments about a gold-star family and non-endorsements of prominent Republican leaders. Priebus told Van Susteren that he’d received texts and emails from Republicans across the country expressing concern about Trump’s continued campaign against the Khans. Now, he can throw in a little Barack Obama because Hillary would be Obama’s third term. “And he’s only 5 or 6 points behind”, Bennett said.
A poll by the Public Policy Institute of California had Trump trailing by 9 to 10 points, but the agency’s CEO said it’s a little early to take any stock in those numbers, especially in California. “We are organised. We are moving forward”, Paul Manafort told Fox News. Some Republican strategists believe that Trump still has time to fix this, but that he must act intentionally and soon.

Behind all these stories of political discord, however, is the simple fact that while insider establishment operatives may be looking for the exits, Republican officeholders who must eventually answer to the 13 million Trump primary voters have yet to break ranks.
