The Mayor of London has become arguably Smith’s biggest backer, with the announcement coming just months after the election that gave him the biggest personal mandate in United Kingdom political history.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the first Muslim mayor of a European capital city, said he will not support Jeremy Corbyn in the Labour Party leadership election.
As he told the journalist why he felt Jeremy Corbyn wasn’t the right man for the job, the camera panned to the Labour leader who was approaching to cheers from supporters.
“He has lost the confidence of more than 80 percent of Labour’s MPs in parliament – and I am afraid we simply can not afford to go on like this”, he added.
Instead, they are allowed to preach down to the Labour party membership, the public, the Labour MPs and Constituency Labour Parties who support Corbyn, Momentum, and Jeremy Corbyn himself – as if they McTernan and Murphy were some sort of election-winning dream team.
“But he won the London mayoralty, as others have pointed out, by standing on a Labour platform under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, backed by the huge numbers who have joined our party to support Jeremy and now campaign for Labour”, Corbyn’s campaign spokesman said.
As a result, many of Corbyn’s shadow cabinet members resigned and publicly stated they had no confidence in his leadership.
Jack Dromey, MP for Birmingham Erdington, was cut off halfway through his interview with ITV by screaming Labour supporters welcoming his party’s leader to a hustings event in Solihull.
He said both he and Mr Corbyn agreed on many issues but disagreed on whether the party was on a “trajectory to win power” under Mr Corbyn’s leadership.
Britain’s Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn makes a speech at Savoy Place, London, June 25, 2016.
Eleven Waltham Forest councillors have signed a letter backing Owen Smith to become leader of the Labour Party.
Mr Smith reiterated his strong support for keeping the United Kingdom in the EU, telling the debate: “I would fight for us to stay in the European Union”.
The Labour leader has said he intends to address the “World Transformed” event, which is being organised by Momentum, the campaign group that is co-ordinating his leadership re-election bid.
“Sadiq ran a fantastic campaign to win power for Labour in London this year, securing a huge mandate from party members and the electorate”.
Writing in The Guardian, she said: “I wasn’t part of a plot”.

A report in the Observer newspaper made the claim, adding that the money came from the proceeds of a fundraising dinner held for Mr. Corbyn’s election.
