British boxing fans, who call themselves Khan’s Army, have headed out to America to see Amir Khan’s showdown with Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez on Saturday.

“You never know – this could be the last fight for me and Canelo here”. Alvarez probably would enter the ring just north of the 155-pound catch-weight being used for Saturday’s fight.

“By me winning this fight, it will definitely take me up there, and be one of the biggest wins in boxing”.

Alvarez said: “I feel great making the weight. After that happens, then the fight begins”. “I want to have that fight”.

“The sense we’ve received from the public, from the press, is that they want to see Canelo-Golovkin”, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said.

And Hunter believes, like great fighters of the past such as Muhammad Ali against George Foreman, that his man will shine brightest under the big lights when everyone expects him to fail.

“When you look at what we have done and how he’s done it, I think it proves what we have worked on is beginning to show and has shown”.

But the reality is Canelo Alvarez has been getting paid to fight for 10 years, and as he approaches the prime of his boxing career, his legacy already has been established. “But I’m going to beat him at his own weight fair and square, no excuses”. I will be the new world champion. “That’s what got him all this way”.

“Canelo will be too strong for Khan who is really only a welterweight (67kg)”, said Ndou, now a successful Sydney lawyer with six university degrees to go alongside the two world title belts that he won in a 23-year boxing career.

“Before, I’ve not respected guys who have knocked me down or out”.

The six-division world champion was also quick to praise Khan’s willingness to face the very best, comparing his impending battle, exclusively live on BoxNation, to Muhammad Ali’s stunning upset against George Foreman. Amir is not a fighter like Mayweather, he is more straight backed.

“At times it’s going to be a chess match”, Khan said.

“You’ve also got to remember that it’s not him going into the fight by himself, it’s him and his trainer [Virgil Hunter]”.

“It’s a great responsibility, but no pressure, I’ve learned to assimilate it with hard work, and fight by fight you gain that experience to continue on”.
