Khizr Khan calls on McConnell, Ryan to repudiate Donald Trump’s comments
Ghazala Khan, the mother of U.S. Army captain Humayun S.M. Khan, who was killed by a vehicle bomb while serving in Iraq in 2004, has written an op-ed for The Washington Post to respond to Trump’s questions about why she did not speak at the DNC.

Donald Trump took to Twitter on Sunday morning to continue his criticisms of Khizr Khan, the father of a Muslim U.S. Army captain who was killed in 2004 by a suicide bomber in Iraq. He also condemned Trump for his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States.
Ex-US President Bill Clinton said: “I cannot conceive how you can say that about a Gold Star mother”.
“This country hold such a person in the highest regard”.
In a June interview, the businessman said that as president he would “suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe, or our allies”.
In the aftermath of the convention, Trump launched a vitriolic attack on Khan and his wife Ghazala Khan.
The Republican presidential nominee for the November 8 election later said he was being “sarcastic” in his comments, which raised concerns among intelligence experts and criticism that Trump was urging a foreign government to spy on Americans. Trump tweeted. “Hillary voted for the Iraq war, not me!”
The controversy started when Khan said on the convention stage last week in Philadelphia that Trump has “sacrificed nothing and no one” for America. “I was upset when I heard that I didn’t say anything because I was in pain”. “I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs”.
Hillary Clinton says controlling her emotions was her biggest concern walking on stage at the Democrat National Convention to become the first woman to lead a major party ticket.
Asked if she believed Putin wanted Trump to win the White House, Clinton said she was not going to jump to that conclusion.
“If you look at his wife, she was standing there”, he told ABC.
In an op-ed in the Washington Post on Sunday, Ghazala Khan responded directly to Trump’s questions. “She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say”, he said. “That is not true”. The piece ends with “He doesn’t know what the word sacrifice means”.
Trump’s comments sparked immediate outrage on social media, including from Republican strategists, who criticized Trump both for attacking a mourning mother and because many considered them racist and anti-Muslim.
“Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country and we should honour all who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe”. Shame on him! Shame on his family!
Khan told Trump that Arlington cemetery is filled with soldiers of “all faiths, genders and ethnicities”.
The candidate had addressed Ghazala Khan in an ABC News interview.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is suggesting the US accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea if it would lead to better relations with Moscow and stronger cooperation in fighting Islamic State militants.

He also implied that about of a third of the responses he’s gotten from Americans are from Republican politicians but said he would not disclose names.
