Khizr Khan: Trump is draft dodger, must return Purple Heart gift
On Monday, a New York Times report highlighted Donald Trump’s five draft deferments during the Vietnam War – including one for bad feet – yet one day later the Republican presidential candidate was receiving a Purple Heart from a us veteran who did actually serve.

In the wake of a New York Times report delving into his military deferments, Donald Trump said that receiving a purple heart as a gift is much easier than earning it by being injured during military service.
Trump said the man approached him before a Tuesday rally in Ashburn, Virginia, and presented him the medal he received for being wounded in combat.
Donald Trump’s comments after a supporter gave him his Purple Heart are striking a nerve with area veterans.
“Being handed things is much easier” is basically Trump’s life story.
The Purple Heart is awarded to servicemen and women who are wounded in combat, and to surviving family members of those who are killed in action. Trump told the crowd that he had asked Dormin if the medal was real. He said the veteran assured him that the medal was real, saying, “I have such confidence in you”.
“The man who gave Trump his purple heart told me earlier today, it was a copy of his purple heart”, Tur tweeted.
“If you are repeatedly having to say, in very strong terms, that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?”
Trump himself never served in the military.
Sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed, Duckworth, D-Ill., wrote, “This is how one usually looks when you are awarded the Purple Heart”.
“In Donald Trump’s America, if you get knocked down, you stay down”, Duckworth told the delegates.
Eric Trump defended his father’s comments on Ivanka Trump and hypothetical workplace sexual harassment.

Khan criticized Trump at last week’s Democratic National Convention, spurring Trump to lash out at Khan and his wife over the weekend. Trump’s reaction to the Purple Heart, as reported by CNN, shows just how out-of-touch the candidate is with regards to military service, and the sacrifices that American soldiers make every day.
