Kid Rock publicist: Confederate flag display ended years ago
Amid ongoing protests about Rock’s association with the controversial symbol, his team spoke with the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday to address the situation.

DETROIT (AP) A representative of Kid Rock says it’s been years since the musician displayed the Confederate flag while on tour.
“We had a very constructive conversation with Rev. Williams and we plan to continue the dialogue going forward”.
“We are committed to our sponsorship of Kid Rock’s summer tour and are confident that he will provide his fans, many of whom are proud Chevrolet owners, with a spectacular concert experience that celebrates American freedom”, said Morrissey.
Williams said he couldn’t say whether Kid Rock was still using the flag in performances, but had concerns that he appears with the flag on social media. In a statement to the Associated Press, Rev. Charles Williams said that “the best resolution is for GM to pull their sponsorship”.
Williams said the group still is awaiting a response from the musician.
The flag was removed last week from the South Carolina Statehouse.
Chevy has given Kid Rock their full support throughout this controversy.
The automaker has not set any specific ground rules on Kid Rock’s use of the Confederate flag, Morrissey said.
The museum released this statement: “The lab explores Detroit’s rich musical legacy and the worldwide impact made by Detroiters in every genre of music, including pop, rock, gospel, blues, hip-hop, techno and more”. He counts among his biggest hits, Picture, All Summer Long, Bawitdaba and Born Free. GM has used Born Free to promote its Chevy brand. Decided five years ago on his own to stop using the flag?
He is also known for being a little rebellious, and the flag portrayed that side of him as well.

In May 2011, Kid Rock stepped up to a Cobo Center podium to accept a Great Expectations Award from Detroit’s NAACP, describing himself as humbled and overwhelmed by the moment.
