On their first day in Canada, the royal couple visited British Columbia’s legislature with full military honours, including a 21-gun salute.

They landed in a city named after William’s great-great-great-great-grandmother.

They may be royalty, but it appears even Prince George and Princess Charlotte are not immune to the prospect of a little mischief.

At the ceremonial welcome in the centre of Victoria the Duke and Duchess were joined by dignitaries who had greeted them at the airport.

The future king was dressed in a jumper, shirt and shorts by Pepa & Co- similar to the outfit he wore when he was taken by William to see his sister soon after she was born – while Charlotte wore a floral dress, thought to be from M&H. “It was meant to look like Her Majesty’s crown”. “I admire their work and how they use their celebrity for good”.

This was the first of two public appearances the children will make during the visit.

The country’s Globe And Mail newspaper has described the trip as a “match made in paparazzi heaven, featuring Prince William, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and their equally telegenic families”.

They will stay at a luxurious Victorian mansion that is the home of the governor-general, the Queen’s representative in Canada. So the fact that he ventured to Victoria to meet them is a huge honor!

“Still to this day you’ll see First Nations arguing they’re not going to negotiate with the province because the province doesn’t really have the authority”.

Trudeau and his wife Sophie will also be at Government House, where they will have a private audience with the Royals. David Johnston, the skirl of the bagpipes and a lone bugler preceded the royal couple laying a wreath at the war memorial near the B.C. legislature.

“That brings an extra level of excitement to the visit”, Victoria Monarchist League of Canada member Bruce Hallsor said. Mariel Grant of the University of Victoria, where she is an expert on the monarchy’s influence in modern times.

Canada, a federation of former British colonies, is part of the Commonwealth.

During the next eight days William and Kate have said they want to meet as many Canadians as possible in British Columbia and the Yukon.

In his speech, the Governor General noted that the royal couple first came to Canada in 2011 as newlyweds of three months, “and now you’ve come back as a family”.

Following the speeches, William and Kate laid a wreath at the Cenotaph to honour those fearless Canadians who gave their lives defending our country through their military service, and then walked the red carpet to greet the public, with both royals collecting numerous gifts and bouquets of flowers from onlookers.

It’s official… Canadian are in love with Prince Williams.
