Kim Davis’ lawyers say altered marriage licenses are valid
Andy Beshear countered that the governor can not change a section of law by executive order, adding: “It’s law school 101”. The group had tried to satisfy with Gov. Steve Beshear, still spoke instead with the governor’s chief of employees, Larry Bond, for greater than an hour. Democrat Andy Beshear fired back by criticizing Westerfield’s record as a prosecutor and his reliance on outside money to prop up his campaign. “I don’t think it should go to Andy because he’s the son of the governor”.

“I’m battle tested”, he said. “I don’t think this race should be bought”.
Staver’s response was filed Tuesday in a U.S. District Court in Ashland, Ky. Both supported restoring voting rights to felons convicted of nonviolent and nonsexual crimes, and they said Kentucky must work harder to bring ex-convicts back into society after they serve their time.
Lawyers for Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis say the marriage licenses issued by her office are binding – and no further action is required by a federal judge to change them. In doing so, Andy Beshear defended his father’s handling of the contentious issue in socially conservative Kentucky. She has said that issuing marriage licenses to gay couples would violate her conscience.
Kentucky’s candidates for attorney general have wrangled over the case of a clerk who chose jail over issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
The Republican said he wants to beef up prosecution of cybercrimes and said he’d challenge regulatory overreach by the federal government.
Beshear said he would create a child abuse and exploitation division, to better protect children and crack down on adults who would prey on them.
“Davis has taken reasonable steps and good faith efforts to substantially comply with this Court’s orders, and marriage licenses are being issued in Rowan County that are authorized, approved, and recognized as valid by Kentucky’s highest elected officials”, attorney Jonathan Christman wrote for the Liberty Counsel, the Florida-based law firm that represents Davis. He also would devote more staff and energy to fighting drug abuse and protecting the elderly from scams.
The organization’s clients included two same-sex couples.

“This is the key reason I got into the race”, Beshear said.
