“This week I’m just in a hotel so I can get some extra rest”, she said with a laugh.
World No. 2 Brooke Henderson of Canada carded a one-over 72 that left her six shots off the pace while defending champion Chella Choi missed the cut after shooting a three-over par 74 that left her four-over for 36 holes.
PGA: Jhonattan Vegas’ lead was down to three strokes Saturday when rain finally stopped third-round play in the Barbasol Championship at Opelika, Ala.
Stephanie Kono, who played at Punahou and UCLA, opened with a 5-over 76. That momentum was short-lived, however, as bogeys on 13 and 15 dropped her back to even par for the round.
Kim Hyo-Joo celebrated her 21st birthday by seizing a share of the first-round lead at the LPGA Marathon Classic alongside fellow South Korean Lee Mi-Rim and Japan’s Haru Nomura.
“Today par-putter is good”, Nomura said.
“It was a really good experience”, said Jutanugarn, the long-hitting Thai player who won three straight events in May. I said, “hey, deja vu”. “My tee shot was good and I make some putts”. He chipped to 5 feet but Baddeley closed it out before Woo finished. “It’s a solid start”.
“I think we were all getting a little bit physically and mentally exhausted as we were continuing to play the same hole”, said Ko.
Ko won in consecutive weeks in Southern California this year, the second the major ANA Inspiration.
“I think we all deserve to be holding the trophy, but I think I’m very fortunate to be the real one holding it”, said Ko. “So tried to take advantage. I feel like this week definitely shows how hard I’m working and trying to get back from that place where I’ve been”.
