A quote from Legendary’s Thomas Tull for the rebuttal!

The Legendary CEO, Thoman Tull and Warner Bros CEO, Kevin Tsujihara made the announcement and combined the epic monsters in a trilogy. So now Legendary Entertainment, owner of the King Kong character, has joined forces with Warner Bros.

When Legendary announced films centered on Godzilla and Kong, fans all over the world speculated these two characters might one day meet in the same film. Production on the new King Kong tale is due to begin this month, and there’s hope that it could eventually lead to the giant ape and Godzilla going toe to toe in a hybrid film. “It’s great to be able to revisit these characters and help create a franchise with so many creative possibilities for filmmakers”.

The story will focus on a group of explorers who are on an adventure to explore the mysterious island and find a mythical serum and the leader’s brother.

Clearly, Vogt-Roberts had the gift of the gab when it comes to talking actors into joining Kong: Skull Island, because soon after Hiddleston joined, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson also signed on the dotted line.

Warner Bros retained the rights for Godzilla and will also work as distribution partner for Kong as per the alliance.

Godzilla 2 will be written by Max Borenstein and directed by Gareth Edwards.

Legendary Entertainment is a leading media company with film (Legendary Pictures), television and digital (Legendary Television and Digital Media) and comics (Legendary Comics) divisions dedicated to owning, producing and delivering content to mainstream audiences with a targeted focus on the powerful fandom demographic.
