However, this new game, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, will be different, as it will come with just as much new content as it will remastered old content.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix for the PlayStation 3 contains Kingdom Hearts 2, as well as the prequel game Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. Although the games that have been released between Kingdom Hearts II and the upcoming (hopefully) Kingdom Hearts III were welcomed, fans are slowly growing tired of these terms of contract releases. It was rumored to be “2.9“, but we are okay with the one digit difference!
No new information about “Kingdom Hearts 3” was given.
Bearing in mind that it’s been 10 years since the franchise’s last full title, current generation console gamers might not be too well-versed about the “Kingdom Hearts” franchise.
The 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue collection will be available on the PS4 in Japan sometime in 2016 with a western release likely to follow later on.

Though the title of the game was wrong, all other speculations surrounding the game seem to be true, including that it will lead to the beginning of the story of Kingdom Hearts 3.
