Kirk Ferentz re-signs with Iowa through 2025 season
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz received a six-year contract extension on Tuesday that will run through the 2025 season. Ferentz made $4.075 million last season.

With the extension, Ferentz will be 71 years old during the last year of his contract.
The Hawkeyes started the 2016 season on the right foot, with a 45-21 win over Miami (Ohio), and they’ll take on in-state rival Iowa State this weekend.
Ferentz is proud to keep his position on the gridiron and maintain the high standard he has set forth for the Hawkeyes: “I am pleased and proud to continue as head coach of the University of Iowa football team through 2026”.

Ferentz and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops are the only two major-college head coaches to be at the same school since 1999. The news comes courtesy of the Iowa Hawkeyes Twitter account:Coach Ferentz isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! “Kirk’s dedication to the football program and the University of Iowa has brought national attention and recognition to the Hawkeyes for almost 20 years”. Previous year the Hawkeyes went 12-2 and had a disappointing appearance in the Rose Bowl against Stanford, in which they were blown out 45-16. His previous contract extension, which he received after his name began to pop up among National Football League coaching rumors, was widely mocked because of its onerous buyout terms that made it extremely expensive for Iowa to fire him, especially after the mediocre years that followed the initial extension.
