Jones was the slowest qualifier for the 10-person final this morning, but pulled out an outstanding run as the first paddler.

Fox adds the medal to the silver she collected at the London Games in 2012.

It forced the 2014 world champion into second place behind New Zealand’s Luuka Jones before Spain’s Maialen Chourraut overtook both paddlers to win the gold.

Later on tomorrow we will have the Australian Opals looking to stay undefeated against Japan and the gymnastics, hockey, men’s rugby sevens finals and more….

She was second in Ivrea and La Seu d’Urgell but a time penalty saw her relegated to 10th in the third leg in Pau.

Fox ended third on 102.49.
