Klay Thompson takes shot to thigh in NBA Finals Game 3

“I’m just confused why he’s trying to set a pick in the middle of the key when we’re both running full speed”, Thompson said after the game.

Thompson left the game during the first quarter after colliding with the Cavs’ Timofey Mozgov and said afterward that he felt the contact was “kinda dirty”.

He was primarily upset with where the screen was set. “He stuck his knee out too, but that’s basketball”. Upon slamming into Mozgov, Thompson dropped to the floor clutching his left thigh, which banged into Mozgov’s knee. If it’s on the perimeter, I understand, but it didn’t make sense to me.

Thompson would hit the deck and would get up in pain.

“Luckily for us, we’ve got a day off”.

Thompson soon returned and scored 10 points in a second-quarter scoring flurry.

Following the Warriors’ 120-90 defeat to the Cavaliers, Thompson was asked about the play where he was injured. He said he will not practice Thursday, but he is not expected to miss Friday’s Game 4. Forward Draymond Green is on the precipice of a mandated suspension should he receive another flagrant foul or two technicals the remainder of the playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors had many things to be upset about with regards to their own performance in the aftermath of Wednesday’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. With Thompson playing well and Ty Lue taking no chances during garbage time, Timofey Mozgov and Channing Frye logged a combined 19 minutes tonight.

Yet Thompson did not forget the Mozgov screen that sent him out of action.
