Klopp Demands Liverpool Improvement in Season-Defining Clash

Sevilla are keen to reach what would be their fifth Europa League final in 11 seasons, having won the competition in 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2015.

Named on the substitutes’ bench for the following clash at home to Stoke, Origi was introduced at half-time and promptly scored a brace, including a remarkable cross-shot that soared past goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard.

Liverpool and their supporters are renowned for their unique atmosphere on European nights, but Marcelino insists it will have a positive rather than negative effect on his players.

Their win was despite resting several first team players and it ensured they qualify for next season’s Champions League via their league position.

“We will suffer at moments in the game, we will find it tough but we can cause them trouble.

Our skills, our quality, our passion, our readiness together with the atmosphere of Anfield – that is what I am looking for”.

“We got it back to 2-1 but then we conceded again and the goals were too simple, too easy for Swansea”.

“We have to think about it and we have to recover, which is very important, and we will play much, much better than we did on Sunday”.

“I’m sure a lot of people didn’t have their cell phones on so we missed a lot of wonderful celebrations that day. I think it’s possible but you never know”.

“I can’t change my mind every two days like you can (about the strength of the squad)”, manager Klopp said after making eight changes from the side which lost 1-0 to Villarreal in Spain last week.

“It is a moment – I don’t want to make it too big to be honest – but it’s a moment only (in) football”.

Villarreal’s wild celebrations at their last-minute victor in the first leg left a mark on Klopp, but he said it does not give him extra incentive.
