Klopp denies Liverpool targeting title tilt
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp celebrates with Mamadou Sakho at the end of their match winning 3-1 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Klopp rejected the notion he was a “genius” despite an eye-catching start to his Liverpool tenure in which he has lost one of 11 games while also rejuvenating a dressing room and galvanising a club. Seriously, Newcastle worry me because their recruitment over the past four seasons reveals a total lack of appreciation in Premier League experience. “Good for him and good for us”, Klopp said.
For all the many reasons that Liverpool should be included in the conversation about potential title challengers, it does seem a little premature to begin discussing it too much.
“Yesterday nobody gave me this sign, so we will have to wait [and see] today”. I am sure it would not have been possible to play on Wednesday with the same team we used against Swansea. “This is a big club, huge club, and when it turns around, and we play well – get confidence, it’s a good team”.
Coutinho will miss Sunday’s visit to Newcastle, though he could be a late candidate for the bench, with the manager explaining he is working his plans around once again being without the midfielder.
Klopp could be prepared to throw Jordan Henderson in from the start on Tyneside. Newcastle haven’t played in Europe for a while, so information in Germany was not easy to get.
If nothing else, Newcastle’s best bet would be to pretend that they’re playing at Anfield and look to stifle and contain the Reds rather than come out and attack as they’d be expected to do at home. The Magpies have only won twice so far this season, against Norwich and Bournemouth, and have shipped an eye-watering 30 goals in just 14 games, so the odds looked stacked against them on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp says he is pleased to have plenty of players to choose from ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle.
“I have never had a problem with too much confidence but confidence is like a small flower…if you have it, somebody can kick it in the game and then you don’t have it. And if you don’t have it, you can get it back easily”.
Newcastle (2-4-8) were outscored 8-1 by Leicester City and Crystal Palace in the last two games after blanking Bournemouth and Stoke City in the previous two.
If there’s one thing that the win over Southampton showed us, it’s that Liverpool now have options.
“We are in a relegation fight”.

That’s an astonishing statistic, I think, and what it translates into is a mentality ill equipped for this division.
