Klopp fires warning shots at Dortmund ahead of Europa League clash

In last week’s Europa League quarter-final first leg at the Westfalenstadion, Klopp watched his Liverpool players press and harry like the Dortmund team he steered to the highest echelon of the European game.

Despite Dortmund all but securing Champions League football for next season, this competition remains a high priority for Thomas Tuchel’s side and so Liverpool will face a tough test to book their place in the semis. It was also a particularly pleasing night for Klopp, on his return to the club he led for seven memorable and hugely successful years.

“This Dortmund team can score goals, they are not an opponent where you can go into a game thinking we can keep a clean sheet”.

Benteke has, without question, struggled since joining Liverpool for £32.5m with it possible, probable even he’ll be allowed to leave Anfield by Jurgen Klopp as he doesn’t look to have a future under him.

“It is a completely normal game and the crowd is more of an advantage if we are good and if they like the game they will help us more than the goal in Dortmund”.

We certainly won’t be flying a white flag.

Jürgen Klopp made plenty of changes to the starting eleven on the weekend, with his priority being this competition. Maybe (there) will be only a few chances in the game because both teams are really good organised.

“The day after games when I don’t play we do a lot of intensive games when we play as a group and I try to use these moments to improve”.

Aubameyang silenced Anfield when he latched onto Marco Reus’ through-ball and ran past Mamdou Sakho to fire a shot past Mignolet and into the top corner.

“We’re looking to gain strength from the atmosphere – I don’t feel negative pressure [from that]”. “We have to do our job and be part of the atmosphere, show that we know what it is about”.

-Dortmund have been eliminated on five of the six occasions they’ve drawn the first leg of a European tie at home. At the same time, Dortmund were subdued, and it is unlikely they will be so far below their brilliant best once again.

Sevilla maintained their quest to win a third straight Europa League crown by ousting fellow Spaniards Athletic Bilbao on penalties on Thursday.

Watford Under-21s boss Kewell has enjoyed Liverpool’s work under Klopp and is also eager to see the German’s former club Dortmund in action.
