Klopp hails ‘big step’ for Liverpool
City may be the league leaders but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not interested in who is the best in the league – unless it is his own side.

Liverpool produced its best performance since the arrival of new manager Juergen Klopp to beat Premier League title chasers Manchester City 4-1 yesterday (Nov 21). It was a fake night, a fake game.
Despite the tough assignment at the Etihad Stadium, they achieved just that following a sublime first-half display.
“It’s important to retain the same way we finished – at the moment we are having a good season”.
Pellegrini said: “I always think it is special for all players – not only Raheem – to play against the team they worked for for many players”.
Jamie Redknapp and Frank Lampard highlight the performance of Philippe Coutinho as the key factor in the 4-1 win for Liverpool at Manchester City.
Manchester City’s defensive frailties in the absence of Vincent Kompany were highlighted again for the second goal as Firmino took advantage of Mangala’s indecision to run into the box before delivering a low pass across goal for Coutinho to stroke home.
In his previous City outing, the 27-year-old sensationally struck five goals in a 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle United and his return to fitness is a timely one as fellow striker Wilfried Bony will miss out with a hamstring injury.
Moreover, Liverpool climbs a bit in the Premier League table while knocking Manchester City out of the top spot. I often spend the global breaks with the national team on top of my club commitments so it has been good to have a more restful fortnight.
“He trained 10-12 days with us without interruption, the same as Coutinho, and that is the reason we played like this with the formation like this – we tried to put on the pitch as many players who trained together”.
Sky Sports football expert Neville believes Klopp countered Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking line-up and then watched his players take their chances when the opportunities arose.
It was like watching the Liverpool of old in the opening exchanges as they strong armed City.
Pellegrini said: “We did all we could to convince him to stay”.

“We need to stop slipping up at home”, Lallana said.
