Klopp: I won’t treat Sturridge like an orange

I think all three played well and it’s really nice what they did.

“Yes (it was the response I wanted)”, said Klopp. He really is in really good shape. “They could have defended better, played a bit more football in the first half – but it was really, really good”.

Klopp gave Ward a further boost by describing the keeper’s display at Bournemouth as “brilliant”. And we come to this.

“Each player had influence today, so do you want to ask the same question of every player?” Who knows whether I start with one or two or someone comes on and makes a big difference in the game.

Klopp has led Liverpool to the Capital One Cup Final and the Europa League semi-finals in just his first year with the team. That is not a role I like. He had a very good game.

“Hopefully it’s not serious”, Klopp said following the 2-1 win over the Cherries, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“That’s how you understand football?”

“It gives you a real boost”.

The Liverpool defence, well marshalled by Lucas Leiva, held firm and Klopp’s side grew into the game with Joe Allen becoming increasingly influential in midfield.

“Was there a cross (for Sturridge’s goal) or not?”

“OK. We live on different planets”.

Divock Origi has recently contributed with a number of important goals for the Reds, and Klopp went on to state that there was every reason Sturridge and the Belgian youngster could line up in the same attack.

Pugh was denied again by a combination of Mamadou Sakho’s challenge and Ward’s right hand as he again raced clear into the area, with Eddie Howe’s side at last beginning to offer some sustained pressure on the Liverpool goal.

“We had no other chance to win”, he said when asked why he had made so many alterations at the Vitality Stadium.

“The second half was a lot better”. He did well with the pass for the first goal, and the cross for the second.

“Now we have two more Premier League games before Villarreal so we don’t even think about the Europa League yet”.

“They were hard ones”.
