Klopp: No excuses, it’s my squad

“There are no transfers I didn’t want, we have not sold anyone I didn’t want us to sell”.

“He missed the departure of the plane, he missed a session and then was late for a meal”, Klopp explained.

It’s clear that Liverpool have money to spend but the transfer market is heavily inflated right now, especially given the amount of television money that has come into the game ahead of the new season.

Last season, Chelsea mounted a disastrous defense of its Premier League title, eventually finishing 10th after a turbulent end to the reign of Jose Mourinho.

“If one player pushes 11 from last season on to the next level, imagine what that will mean?” “I know Fabregas is a good man, a good boy and it is not a player to have this type of situation”.

In quotes carried by ESPN, Klopp stated that his preferred method with that kind of money would be to distribute it evenly across several players, thereby building a squad.

Klopp is taking seasonal preparations with Liverpool for the first time having being named the new Anfield boss halfway through last season.

“If you have seen them in training, there is a special quality that we did not have a year ago”, said Klopp. That isn’t how we work.

“When I put my thumb up – and I only can do this when the financial things are agreed – and the player joins us or leaves us, that’s how it is”.

“I knew quite early that he was going this way [to Old Trafford]”.

“The most important thing is how they can play football: talent, skill, potential but then character is very important. We built this team only to be successful, not one where we say we will have to wait”. For five or six players we could have bought one player for the same money, but I don’t care.

“It is not about being creative because creative is cool or something, it is about finding the players who can make the next step with us”. Find us on Facebook too! I want us to be up there. Although Klopp also admits that with intense training it has been hard to prepare for the game, he wants to see the maximum effort from his team against Chelsea and to try and top the standings for the International Champions Cup.
