Klopp pictured alongside Gonzalo Higuain’s agent

After replacing Brendan Rodgers in October, Klopp led the Reds to the finals of the League Cup and the Europa League. Marko Grujic was signed last January, Joel Matip after that while Loris Karius completed his move from Mainz last month as the Liverpool manager is putting something of his own stamp on this team.

It has been a while since Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a potential move to the Reds this summer and the Reds are reportedly close to signing the player.

The Reds boss was pictured in the stands of the Levi’s Stadium as Argentina began their campaign with a 2-1 win in Santa Clara.

Higuain has just come off the back of a sensational season that saw him score an incredible 36 goals in just 35 Serie A games as Napoli finished runners-up behind champions Juventus.

Liverpool are said to be in the market for a left-back, so he could have been watching Eugenio Mena – Chile’s left-back from Sao Paulo FC – one doubts Klopp is even thinking about Argentina’s Marcos Rojo – now of Manchester United.

If Liverpool can somehow contrive to sign Higuain, it will be (IMO) one of the most exciting transfers in years. Pictures don’t lie, though – Klopp chose to watch the Argentina game alongside the Agent of one of the world’s most prolific strikers, and that strongly suggests that something is happening behind the scenes.

“The progress last season was great because if you think about the amount of rotations he made… he gave everybody a chance to prove themselves and in the end they missed out on winning two trophies in the final”.
