Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the Europa League can salvage a “difficult” season for Liverpool.

“Yes, he could be involved, 100%”, Jürgen Klopp said when faced with the inevitable question about whether Daniel Sturridge would start on Thursday against Villarreal.

“We will suffer at moments in the game, we will find it tough but we can cause them trouble”. “You want to play these big games and feel the pressure and the atmosphere in the ground, that’s why you became a football player when you were a kid”.

“This team has built consistency step by step, this good shape and good moment we should use”, said the German, who replaced Brendan Rodgers seven months ago.

“We come here full of hope”, said Villarreal manager Marcelino.

Liverpool’s 33 Uefa games against Spanish opposition have ended W13 D10 L10 (W4 D6 L5 at Anfield – W7 D4 L5 in Spain). In October LFC changed manager.

“Something went wrong before then”.

After the game – win, lose, or draw – the banner will be left at Anfield.

“It’s a real success”. They were one of the best teams in Europe and we beat them.

“We know where they are risky and the important thing is to counter that. It’s an extraordinary achievement”. Hendo is on a good way for England, but I’m not too sure how good is the way for Liverpool.

The return of Can on Thursday is ahead of schedule as it comes just three weeks after he limped out of the remarkable triumph over Borussia Dortmund with an ankle injury that was expected to sideline him for four to six weeks. Can could stand-in for injured captain Jordan Henderson. who remains out with knee ligament damage – however his participation in the summer’s European Champions remains a distinct possibility. “Only Emre returns into the squad”. Alberto Moreno, Kolo Toure, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana will also be back after getting a breather.
