Klopp takes aim at misfiring reds

The Reds came from a goal down and blew the north Londoners away with four quick-fire goals during a 20 minute spell but were forced to hold on as Arsenal pulled it back to 4-3 during a thriller at the Emirates.

With 81 per cent possession, 26 shots on target and 12 corners and 852 passes to Burnley’s 207, Liverpool were undone 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Senegalese worldwide, a £30 million ($40 million, 36 million euros) buy from Southampton, was taken to hospital after landing awkwardly on his shoulder in an accidental challenge on Wednesday morning. “We put ourselves under pressure”, he said.

“It’s not that serious”.

“We expected to create better chances than we did. At first it wasn’t too good but now all is okay”.

The return to fitness of striker Daniel Sturridge, after a hip problem, and midfielder James Milner has added more competition for the trip to Burnley.

“It was a hard game for us”.

But the side failed to break down a resolute defence and the performance highlighted their own defensive issues, which have seen them concede five goals from their first two games.

However, when asked if the loss would see him look to the transfer market, Klopp said: “If one game should change my mind then I would be a real idiot”.

“I told you a lot times that I can not be interested in criticism of other people”.

“I want to offer a honest and unreserved apology to anybody I may have offended in relation to these tweets”, he said.

Klopp’s opposite number Sean Dyche is likely to give a debut to the club’s record signing Belgian global midfielder Steven Defour, who joined from Anderlecht this week for £7.5 million.

“I saw some really good crosses into the box where no one was in the box”. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has been urged to buy a new left-back to replace Alberto Moreno, who has been found wanting on a number of occasions, but chose to deploy the England global, who is primarily a midfielder.

Other Premier League teams in League Cup action this week include Everton, Crystal Palace, last season’s FA Cup runners-up, and Hull City, the top flight’s surprise joint-leaders. It’s how it is with all other positions – we would’ve found the ideal fit with all the things around, it’s not about money, only about playing style, defending skills, offensive skills and technical skills.
