Klopp vows to play strongest Liverpool team against Southampton

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stressed that he will play his strongest team in Wednesday’s League Cup encounter with Southampton as he feels they lack the depth to rest key players. One of the meetings we had with the team at the start of the season was about improving, being better than previous year.

The 48-year-old looks to have revived players like Roberto Firmino, Dejan Lovren and Jordon Ibe, but with January on the horizon its nearly certain that he’ll look for a few of his own additions.

The quarter-final clash represents a rare opportunity for the promising central defender following his loan move from QPR in the summer. I think there’d be no conflict were there be to be interest in one of our players at some point.

Jurgen Klopp will aim to continue Liverpool’s fine run of form and take another step toward landing a first trophy at Anfield when his side visit Southampton in the Capital One Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday.

That has led to suggestions that the Swansea manager’s job is under threat, despite the fact that he led them to eighth place last season – their highest league finish since 1982.

“After the performance last week (against Manchester City), it would’ve been a waste getting those three points if we didn’t follow it up and we managed to do that against a good side”.

“It is massive. They are two top players and any team in the league would miss them, it is great they are back”, he said.

“We want to win, it’s a hard game against Southampton, but to win [cups] it’s a cool thing!” It would be easy to say it’s easy away or against teams with more ball possession, because if it was that easy, everyone would do it. “I was only on the pitch during the warm-up but it was really insane because it changed all the time, he said”.

“Manchester City were lucky in a way to beat Southampton”.

“First, about the competition we like to reach the semi-final, and, second, after the two defeats the best way to get back full of confidence is winning”.

“We got back to how we wanted to play and how we have been playing so we’re happy with that”, said the Wales worldwide.

“We will go into the big games as the underdogs and tell the lads to enjoy themselves because nobody expects you to get a result”, Allardyce said. “They’re certainties for the Champions League spot and I think they might win the league”.
