This is Liverpool’s first home game of the season, now that the new Main Stand at Anfield is finished, and I think they will mark it with a win.

Under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group, the two have finally started working together and ahead of the long-awaited launch of the stadium, plans were this week presented to Liverpool City Council which show how the high street next to Anfield stadium could be transformed with shops, commercial units, homes and apartments.

Liverpool’s chairman, Tom Werner, said in a statement: “Redeveloping the Main Stand has been about improving our home rather than having to abandon it in the name of progress”.

‘We want what all Liverpool supporters want – future success on the pitch. Anfield is home and it’s as much a part of the identity of this club as the Liverbird on the crest of the shirt. The football club and the council have spent a long time pointing the finger at each other.

“This club is built on our fantastic history”. “If you mix our games up, the first three or four, you can say you can lose at Arsenal and Tottenham, should not lose at Burnley, we could still have four points”.

Marko Grujic believes his first taste of competitive action with Liverpool taught him everything he needs to know about life in the Premier League. We had our first three games all away, it’s been so long since we played here, coming back tomorrow and starting the season after the global break, it’s a good chance that we have. “It is good, it is exciting, we go from Premier League to Champions League to EFL Cup and it’s good”, the manager said”. Hopefully we have a lot of wonderful memories here.

“I watched Leicester lose this fixture last Christmas when most expected the bubble to burst – they lost only one further game, and they’ve made a habit of spoiling dream scripts in the last 12 months”. Everyone will come here and take their photos and things like this but I would like to ask for a bit of support. “If [the fans] come with their best performance I’ll try and convince the players to bring their best performance and then maybe we have a real force”.

“We listened to our supporters, the local community, former players and the Hillsborough, [Bill] Shankly and [Bob] Paisley families”. It is against the current champions and they are still good. Now let’s make Anfield a fortress again please! Coming back tomorrow and starting the season now after the first worldwide break is a big step.

“On a day like this, we shouldn’t think someone has more than us, but only how much we have to use”.
