Klopp: why Liverpool FC were not flawless at Manchester City
Photo: Martin Rickett/PA Wire. I was not happy with the performance of all 11 players. In previous campaigns maybe we didn’t have the experience, maybe a few players did not know what it was like to play in the Champions League.

“It was an unbelievable game”, Lovren told the Liverpool Echo. Simon Mignolet had no chance.
“We were 3-0 down and it was quite hard to play”. It’s not easy because there is no time to train.
“We press in different ways depending on who we’re playing against and how we play”.
The character of the team is really good, they want to work.
“In defence, in attack and in possession I have never seen my team play in the way they played tonight”.
He said: “We need to turn the page as soon as we can”.
On Liverpool’s victory over City, Klopp said: “It was very satisfying, but whether it is was the best [performance] I am not sure”. We have to learn to win, to be in the lead.
“We scored three early goals and just before half-time there was a bit of a setback, but we didn’t let it affect us and in the second half we were the better side again”.
Klopp has, in just a little over a month, shown the difference the right manager can make for a floundering club.
“We don’t have to think about this”. They could have had more; probably should have had more. I’m sure they’ll bounce back. It was because they could train together, and Benteke was not with us. Christian, when he came in, was brilliant. We take this three points and move onto the next game now.
It is unclear at this stage as to what Klopp believes is a realistic target for his side, although given their defeat at home to Crystal Palace prior to the worldwide break, the former Dortmund boss is unlikely to be getting ahead of himself. “But as soon as you step on the field, it is business time”. To bring him in the shape so he’s robust enough for the long season.
A furious Manuel Pellegrini tore into his Man City players after they were thrashed at home by Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool made a stunning statement of Premier League intent.
“I would love to win a game like this at Anfield”.
He said: “It wasn’t a good performance on our part but I don’t blow wins or losses out of proportion”.

As at all Premier League games over the weekend, the French national anthem was played prior to kick-off in memory of the Paris victims.
