Kluber wins 4th straight start as Indians beat White Sox 3-1

With Roberto Perez on third and one out in the seventh, White Sox manager Robin Ventura lifted righty Matt Albers in order to have Dan Jennings face Kipnis. “You bring him in when we do in the seventh and it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to keep him in through the eighth, but as long as he has a six- or seven-pitch inning, there’s no reason not to”. “It’s tough watching it happen over and over”. The under is a flawless 6-0 in Quintana’s last six starts overall versus the Indians, is 28-12-2 in the last 42 meetings between these two teams overall, and is 11-5-1 in the last 17 meetings in Cleveland.

ROYALS 6, TIGERS 1: Danny Duffy allowed one run in 7 2/3 innings and Kansas City hit four homers at Detroit. Cleveland produced ten hits and walked twice with Mike Napoli, Francisco Lindor and Jason Kipnis driving in runs. In the third, Rajai Davis walked and stole second base on a botched rundown after he was caught off first by Quintana.

Kaplan then refuted his own words on TV, saying Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf told him the front office was “100 percent in lockstep” about the club’s direction at the deadline and moving forward into the offseason.

“They can run and that’s what I tried to stop today”, Quintana said. “He speeds them up with the breaking ball”.

Indians: RHP Carlos Carrasco posted a no-decision in his lone start against the White Sox this season, allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings on June 19 at Progressive Field. The White Sox offense stalled Tuesday in a 3-1 loss at Cleveland for back to back defeats.

“Quintana is good, he’s really good”, Indians manager Terry Francona said. “His command is phenomenal”.

Keuchel, the reigning AL Cy Young Award victor, allowed six runs and six hits in five innings to match his season high for runs allowed.

TWINS 4, BRAVES 2: Ervin Santana scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings, Joe Mauer homered and Minnesota won at Atlanta.

Between Miller’s two dominant innings, the Tribe added an insurance run thanks to an RBI single by Kipnis.

Quintana held the Indians to two earned runs on seven hits over six innings, but the Sox offense came up short again.

Albers made 30 straight scoreless appearances from August 5, 2015 to April 25, 2016, but has struggled this summer.

In a combined 51 appearances with the Indians and Yankees, Miller is 6-1 with a 1.50 ERA.

White Sox: 2B Brett Lawrie (left hamstring strain) is 5 for 12 through three games of his rehab assignment at Double-A Birmingham. Ventura said Fulmer could stretch out to try to make a start in September.

Indians: OF Michael Brantley (right shoulder) is expected to be ready for baseball activities when spring training begins. He had surgery for right biceps tendinitis Monday.

The White Sox will recall Anthony Ranaudo from Triple-A Charlotte to start Wednesday night’s game.
