Knee injuries end seasons for Ole Miss’ Ken Webster, Eric Swinney

The Ole Miss Rebels take on the Florida State Seminoles in one of the biggest games in Week 1 of the college football on Monday, September 5, 2016 start time at 8:00 PM ET, at Camping World Stadium. The Rebels were firing on all cylinders in the first half, with senior quarterback Chad Kelly tossing three touchdown passes, while Florida State couldn’t get anything going against the Rebels defense.

Then it all came together in the second quarter.

South Alabama stunned No. 2 Florida State, 1-0, on Monday night to hand the Seminoles their first first loss of the season. O-line, wake up! Y’all got the hardest coach; [offensive line] coach [Rick] Trickett get on you’re (expletive), and I know nobody in MS get on your (expletive) like Coach Trickett.

Francois, James, Aguayo, Walker and Florida State will hope that no historic comeback is necessary this week as the Seminoles play their home opener against Charleston Southern. Kelly can be really good at times, such as the first half against Florida State.

But Francois threw a 16-yard TD pass to Travis Rudolph with 28 seconds left in the first half, and from that point everything changed, the roles of the teams suddenly reversing. College football creates excitement every week with a multitude of talented players putting up video game-like numbers, but four hours is just too long to sit through a football game. Virginia Tech had three first-half turnovers and trailed Liberty 13-10 in the second quarter before getting untracked offensively in a 36-13 victory.

Florida State adjusted and launched an impressive, aggressive counterattack behind Francois, who settled in and looks like a star in the making for a deep and talented Seminoles squad that has national title aspirations.

Ole Miss pounced on the Seminoles in the first half, at one point, grabbing a 28-6 lead with less than two minutes to go in the first half.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois, an Orlando native, finished with 419 passing yards and two touchdowns, and he added 85 rushing yards. When asked if Winston had any words of advice, Francois replied: “He was just telling me to stay poised”. “They came out with a great game plan, executed it and made us have to make decisions throughout the course of the game”. Sophomores Marcus Lewis and Tarvarus McFadden both intercepted Kelly in their first career starts to slow the Rebels.

Ricky Aguayo, another freshman, converting an FSU-record six field goals on six attempts — breaking a mark shared by his brother Roberto.

No. 5 – That being said, plenty of credit has to be given to that side of the ball in the second half, forcing three turnovers (four total for the game) and holding the Rebels to NEGATIVE seven yards in the third quarter alone.
