Knicks’ Anthony out with sprained ankle against Cavaliers

Anthony went through the morning shoot around but when he tested his sprained right ankle at the hotel in the afternoon, he had trouble pushing off and moving laterally. The Knicks were playing without Carmelo Anthony and still almost pulled off the upset thanks to 23 points and 13 rebounds from rookie Kristaps Porzingis. It’s expected that he’ll claim his usual spot in the starting lineup Wednesday, but because of the upcoming heavy slate, he could see his minutes limited a bit.

Fisher expects Anthony to play Saturday at Atlanta when the Knicks begin a stretch of three games in four nights. “But New York is one of those teams that should always be on Christmas”. The Knicks rallied from 11 points down to take their first lead on a tip-in from forward Lou Amundson with 11:08 to play, but they went scoreless for 3 1/2 minutes late in the game and Porzingis was shut out in the fourth quarter.

“That’s what it should’ve been”, Anthony said on Wednesday, according to published reports. “If we played at the Garden on the 26th I think we’d be OK with that”.

“I don”™t know what they were looking at,” Anthony said. James added two free throws on the next possession before former Knick Iman Shumpert stripped Arron Afflalo on the other end to force a crucial NY turnover, sealing the game. “So I’d rather just take care of it right now and use the next couple days to get some rest”.
