Knicks Trade Rumors: New York Aggressively Shopping Rose, Interested In Rubio & More

The trade would have sent Ricky Rubio to NY and Derrick Rose to Minnesota in a high-profile move that would have altered both teams’ respective trajectories.

“The sense I’ve gotten from talking to other teams who’ve talked to NY is they feel like the Knicks would nearly give away Derrick Rose right now”, said Wojnarowski.

The deal would have reunited Rose with ex-Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau and paved the way to develop Kris Dunn as Timberwolves’ point guard of the future. Sports’ Sam Amick reports the Wolves are talking to other teams about potential Rubio trades as well.

“Like I said before I left, you never know what’s going to happen”.

The Los Angeles Lakers surprised the league when the once Kobe Bryant team opted to turn to younger stars as their go-to leaders in games. If he doesn’t waste it like he did last summer on Joakim Noah and his $72 million contract, then maybe Thursday’s trade-deadline dud will look good. “But yeah, this time felt a little different”, Rubio said Thursday. Throughout the rest of the season, the New York Knicks only saw flashes of brilliance from D-Rose – performances that apparently failed to impress the front office.

Rose, of course, was coached for many years by Thibodeau while both were with the Bulls, and he has pined for that coach’s pick-and-roll-heavy scheme, as opposed to the Knicks’ version of the triangle offense. The Timberwolves are a bad team overall, but are significantly better with Rubio on the court since he has the ability to find passes that few other players can see. “We have feelings. But I know this is a business and it has to be like that”.

The former MVP and three-time All-Star is averaging 17.7 points, 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 48 games this season.

Teams have told me in the last 24 hours that (the Knicks) have been really aggressive trying to move Derrick Rose for nearly anything, to see if they can get any value back for him.

Despite all this, he has carved out a career as a valuable National Basketball Association player due to his elite court vision, stellar defense and ability to make other players better. You’ll be hearing a lot of these names over and over if the Knicks season collapses further as Jackson hopefully makes the rounds of the postseason college tournaments.
