Knoxville residents line up for iPhone 7

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus offer double the memory than its predecessor, come with wireless headphones and are even water resistant.

Line of buyers outside Apple’s campus store in Cupertino for iPhone 7. That doesn’t seem to have deterred customers showing up on Friday on the first day of sales.

Marcus Barsoum, a 16-year-old who described himself as a “diehard Apple fan”, spent two nights camped outside the Sydney store.

For what it’s worth, it could be the most accurate information we’ll get.

“IPhone 7 Jet Black and all variants of the iPhone 7 Plus are now out of stock”, wrote M1 on its Facebook page, a day before the scheduled release date.

Apple says battery life improves by an hour or two, thanks to higher capacity and efficiencies.

This iPhone release is like most others, the phones are hard to find unless you preordered it online.

Apple said during the online pre-order period, initial quantities of the iPhone 7 Plus in all styles sold out, along with the iPhone 7 in the jet black finish. “I was trying to get the 7 Plus and the new jet black, but they don’t have the 7 Plus or the jet black, so I ended up getting the regular black, then the 7”.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen with Retina HD and 1,080x1920p resolution (401 ppi pixel density). Orange, France’s biggest carrier, said orders were slightly higher than a year ago, but that it didn’t have a supply shortage.

In 2013, Apple overestimated demand for the iPhone 5c and had to cut orders from suppliers. Industrywide, smartphone sales have also been slowing this year.

“Apple clearly controls supply tightly”, added Matthew Kanterman, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. It was for the sales associate selling them, someone they’ve worked with for years.

Queues have already begun to appear outside Apple stores around the world ahead of the full launch on Friday morning, but Apple confirmed some versions of the phones would not be available to walk-in customers.

However, Credit Suisse said it expects Apple to sell 215 million iPhones this year and 221 million units in 2017.

Apple also faces stiff competition from traditional rival Samsung, although the South Korean giant is now on the back foot after being forced into a massive recall because of exploding batteries of its flagship Galaxy Note 7.
