Ko takes lead at U.S. Women’s Open
Hack’s appearance in this year’s U.S. Women’s Open marks the second straight appearance for a Kentucky Wildcat in the national championship, which is open to female amateurs and female professionals across the country and globe.

A win might not be in the cards for the Canadian contingent at CordeValle but good finishes can still go a long way for all four. “So I just let go of the pressure, and then the feeling you want to go aggressive, just let it go and do whatever you can out there”.
Australia’s Karrie Webb, victor of the 2000 and 2001 titles, shot a one-over-par 73 to sit in 66th.
Taking advantage of ideal scoring conditions at sun-splashed CordeValle Golf Club, the 25-year-old fired an eight-under-par 64 to match the second-best US Women’s Open score ever in the third of the year’s five women’s major championships.
Meanwhile, Brittany Lang and Amy Yang are two shots back at 5 under, and Angela Stanford is in sixth place at 4 under at CordeValle.
Mirim Lee and Kerr made just two bogeys apiece and had a blast tearing up the course.
“No, I think the best thing is to not get out of your routines”. And the same way the other way.
“You would expect the USGA (United States Golf Association) is not too happy with that score, so it will be interesting what they come up with (for course set-up) for the rest of the week”.
“And I think every adult can say, ‘Oh, I remember when I was back in middle school or in kindergarten, I was so fearless'”.
World No. 1 Lydia Ko owns the lead at seven under a couple back of where the lead was in the first couple of days and showing how the conditions have gotten tougher. “But I knew when I found the driver this week that it just felt so much like my old driver and we found the right combination and even if I missed a little bit I could feel what I did wrong, I could feel the difference”.
Ko deliberately tried to stay out of trouble on Saturday, with the blustery wind and hard greens making it a challenge to get near the flag.
Those three will need to do plenty of work to catch Lee. They also had to contemplate 13 combined bogeys.
Ko saw Lee’s 8-under score and was amazed.
“I think the biggest difference was the wind”, Ko told Fox Sports. The British Open is staged in western Scotland next week. Of the 10 players who shot in the 60s, only Yang broke into the top seven from the afternoon wave, and she did that with a late rush. If Henderson wins, she would replace Ko as the youngest LPGA player with two majors…. It will be interesting to see how she responds Friday with a 2:09 tee time, but she’s given herself a nice three-stroke cushion.
Despite her apparent carefree approach to the game Ko revealed that it is not necessarily like that.
“I feel like I’m in a good spot tomorrow”, she said. “But I hit three good shots and three bad putts”.
Lee has two career victories on the LPGA Tour and three on the LPGA of Korea Tour. Henderson’s never missed a cut in nine major starts. She made 12 greens in regulation and hit nine of the 14 fairways with an average driving distance of 240 yards.

That was back at Blackwolf Run when Ko was 15, but she doesn’t think being nervous really had much to do with her age. She won’t be challenging for any titles this time, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t looking forward to it.
