Kobe Bryant’s final Christmas as a Laker
Joining him in the Western Conference backcourt based on current voting is 2015 NBA All-Star Game MVP Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder with 267,699 with Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers a distant third with 146,335.

Two of the most popular teams in the league clash at the Staples Center as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Oklahoma City Thunder as the regular season continues in the National Basketball Association. However, the Lakers also lost by 40 points or more for only the sixth time in franchise history during that span, 118-78 at Oklahoma City, in a game Bryant missed because of a strained shoulder. Marc Gasol (19) led five Grizzlies players with double figures of points scored, with Mike Conley adding 18 points and six assists.
As disappointing as the twin debacles were, Kobe wasn’t surprised.
“The thing is he (Kobe) will smile, but he’s still going to bring it”, said Durant who had 21 points against the Lakers in the Thunder’s 120-85 victory.
Guard Stephen Curry, who has led the Golden State Warriors to a 27-1 record this season, had the second-highest vote total (510,202) and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is third (357,937). Bryant showcased his trademark fadeaway jumper that has made him great in his 20-year career.
“We believe in each other”, Durant said.
In that first match, the Thunder won comfortably over the Lakers when they met at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
At this point, it is pretty much accepted that the Los Angeles Lakers are not going anywhere this season, and the rest of their games are just a farewell tour for Kobe Bryant. Barton, a reserve averaging 15.7 points per game on 45.8% shooting, was probably due for some regression to the mean after his absolutely torrid start to the game.
Kobe Bryant is lapping the field in the first officially released tally of All-Star fan votes, with 719,235 votes in his favor. “They didn’t play well at all and really just got embarrassed by the way we played tonight”.
So, there’s no sense in yelling at them.
“I$3 chose to ask Kobe if he wanted to guard him”, Lakers coach Byron Scott said. Bryant led the Lakers with 19 points.
On Tuesday, Bryant had arguably his best performance of the year in a win over the Denver Nuggets: 31 points on 10-22 shooting, three rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal.

Then he got Durant to fall for the pump-fake, making two free throws after drawing the foul.
