Kobe Bryant surprises Taylor Swift with a banner in Staples Center rafters

The “Blank Space” hitmaker receives a congratulatory banner for having 16 sold-out performances, the most for any artist in the history of Staples Center.

That’s the building where Bryant’s team, the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers play, of course, and the Lakers have won a lot of championship banners that are hanging in that arena.

Taylor Swift broke a record at the Staples Center on Friday, and none other than Kobe Bryant was on hand to help honor the superstar.

The pair sang Counting Stars, one of OneRepublic’s biggest hits. “To celebrate those championships, we do something very special”.

It makes you wonder if this banner will hang permanently, or till the record is broken, or if it will meet the same fate as the banner the WWE raised for Hulk Hogan in Madison Square Garden.

Bryant pointed to the drop-down banner as fans screamed and before Swift hugged him in gratitude.

Little did Swift know, however that Bryant had a surprise of his own.

Well, he does respect greatness, and regardless of your opinion of her, T. Swift does represent musical greatness.

Some of the stars who attended the concert included Joe Jonas, Gigi Hadid, Mariska Hargitay, Debby Ryan, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Mark Wahlberg, who brought his daughter, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
