There’s certainly a reason as to why the players were shocked by beating the Warriors on Sunday-this Lakers team still isn’t going to go on to compete for the title, even if they are mathematically still alive for a playoff berth.
It’s hard to explain how the worst team in the West can beat a team that’s on it’s way to post the best regular season record of all-time except: It happens. But the Dubs were able to finally get away from the hype and constant attention surrounding their undefeated streak and focus on what mattered most: winning back-to-back championships. Augustin scored eight of his 12 points in the extra period.
“Just one of those days, you know”, Warriors forward Draymond Green said.
The Lakers, who led by as much as 14 in the first half, built a 60-49 lead at the break on a solid half by Russell, who scored 13 of his 17 first-half points in the second quarter.
Following a surprising beat down from the Lakers, are the Golden State Warriors set to take some frustration out on the Orlando Magic tonight at 10:30PM ET?
The victory makes it 45 straight at home for the Warriors, breaking the previous record of 44 set by the legendary Chicago Bulls from March 30, 1995 until April 4, 1996. The South Sudanese averaged 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds over the course of the last five games while shooting 53 percent from the field. Sometimes the game comes too easy for our guys and they just think they can do anything.
“We played harder than we did (Sunday), which is a good step”, Kerr said after the win that broke the Bulls’ record for consecutive home-court victories.
Klay Thompson and Curry had a rough afternoon with the two All-Stars finishing with 33 points and hitting only one three-pointer between them.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 18 points on a day when they were bad offensively, missing 26 of 30 attempts from long range.
That was when a 25th turnover might have doomed the Warriors, but instead Thompson turned a broken play into his fifth 3-pointer from the right corner with 52.5 seconds left.

Aaron Gordon had 20 points and 16 rebounds in his Bay Area homecoming. Stephen Curry was the game’s leading scorer with 51 points. G Lou Williams (mild left hamstring strain) missed his third straight game.
