Koenigsegg Regera: 0-400 in 20sec!

Koenigsegg claims the Regera weighs just 3,505 pounds with all the necessary oils and fuel, or around 3,241 pounds dry.

The Regera was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in a concept form and has been undergoing various tests including homologation.

More weight savings were made with a new external charger, smaller 800V AC compressor, and lighter DC/DC converter. Slowly catching up, the Koenigsegg hits 200 kmph in 6.6 seconds compared to the Chiron’s 6.5-second time and literally mauls the Chiron to 300 kmph as it takes just 10.9 seconds in comparison to the Bugatti’s 13.5 seconds. Total power output translates to more than 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque.

Now, talking about the engine and drivetrain, Koenigsegg Regera is powered by a Biturbo 5.0-liter V8 engine it will generate over 1500 hp and over 2900 Newton metre of torque.

Drive Direct system: Koenigsegg has developed a clutch-slip mechanism that uses the hydraulic coupling to convert torque at medium/high speeds during fast acceleration.

Like the concept, the production Regera manages without a traditional gearbox to keep the auto lightweight. It has the familial Koenigsegg styling and packs 1500hp under the hood. It’s supposed to mimic the feel of downshifting.

With heated electric seats, and Apple CarPlay as standard equipment, Koenigsegg reckons the Regera is “a fusion of luxury, comfort and race vehicle performance”.

The Agera Final series will be limited to three units and they will mark the end of the Agera model line. A maximum of 80 examples are scheduled to be built, each with a price tag of £1.2m, and first deliveries to lucky customers will be at the end of this year. The “HydraCoup” uses the Koenigsegg Direct Drive system that knocks out not only the weight of a conventional gearbox, but also the “complexity and mechanical losses”.

Some of the features found on the “One of 1” include a front splitter, triple winglets on the front bumper, custom-designed venture at the rear with adjustable winglets, a shield mesh at the rear, top-mounted rear wing with second blade, roof-mounted air intake and special badging, along with polished aluminum interior switchgear.
