Kogi Inauguration: Yahaya Bello sworn in as governor

According to Faleke in a statement signed by the Director, Media and Publicity, Audu/Faleke Campaign Organisation, Honourable Duro Meseko on Wednesday, the plan was hatched for Bello to escape the obvious lacuna of not running the Supplementary election with a Deputy and also to give some form of legitimacy to the apparent unconstitutionality of the action. The leadership of the party (APC) must be changed to assist President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver on his programme of rescuing the country. The oath was administered by the Chief Judge of the state.

“My administration has zero tolerance for corruption and it remains so and I think Kogites should be guided in this direction”.

Bello who promised to do things differently, said there will be a new direction in the governance of the state.

The statement said all the appointments took immediate effect.

“We have conceived a socioeconomic blueprint that we trust God will rapidly develop our state and radically empower our people”, he said.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki was represented by Senator Kabir Gaya.

Among those who spoke in favour of the inauguration is one-time Commissioner of Education in defunct Kwara State, Dr. David Atte.

However, history was made as Yahaya Bello was the first governor to be sworn in without a deputy.

Faleke, through his spokesperson, Duro Meseko said: “For us in Audu/Faleke political organisation, the swearing in programme today (yesterday) is an ordinary ritual that has no bearing or impact on our desire to actualise our mandate”.

Subsequent to his death, the election was declared inconclusive and a rerun was scheduled for December 5, which was won by Bello- without a running mate.

Bello’s deputy, James Faleke, is, however not present.

Those that attended Wednesday’s inauguration included the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun as well as the governors of Nasarawa and Benue States. We will be different by the grace of God.

He extends his hands of fellowship to all people of Kogi.

People all over Kogi state came out massively to support the governor elect at the Confluence stadium, Lokoja.
