Sambia’s friends Sanu and Johny have told police the 26-year-old was with them just before the accident and was driving drunk.

Joint commissioner of police (crime) Debashish Boral, however, ruled out the claim of Shanu’s surrender though he admitted Khalid was taken alongwith the police team to identify the accused.
Officials of Kolkata Polices detective department said that Sambia, Sanu and Johny would be interrogated separately and then jointly.
Amid reports that the Sohrab siblings might have escaped overseas, to China in most probability, police have so far failed to make any arrest in the case.

Rejecting the bail plea moved by the accused in Audi hit and run case, Sanu alias Shahnawaz Khan and Johny alias Nur Alam – were remanded to eleven days police custody till January 30 by a Kolkata court here on Tuesday.
“It was only later in the day that we found out that all this happened and came to know that police were looking for us”, Johnny said in the video.
Arrested Sambia was arrested on Saturday night around 11.10 pm by the Kolkata Police while he was heading towards his in-laws’ house.
With the prime accused and TMC leader’s son Sambia refusing to cooperate in investigation – he will be cross questioned along with other accused in the case.
The group then left together and Sambia in an intoxicated state charged through a police barricade.

The Indian Air Force, which is also probing the matter, too earlier claimed “vested interests” were thwarting the probe.
