“A new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience”.

Konami might be deep in the pachinko business right now, but that doesn’t mean they’ve completely forsaken the Metal Gear name, as shown in this new trailer for a game called Metal Gear Survive.

Set immediately after the events of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Survive will follow members of Militaires Sans Frontières as they are transported to a unusual parallel universe.

Metal Gear Solid V is an unbelievable and incredible game – right up until the point where it isn’t. From our very brief presentation, Survive looks to be leveraging a lot of the work done on Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain’s single player and competitive multiplayer, and reshaping it into a new co-operative experience.

Survive will use the same FOX Engine that powered both instalments of Metal Gear Solid V. Konami will release more information following Gamescom, and we’ll update you as soon as we find out more. It’s the first game in the series following Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima’s exit from the company.

Metal Gear Survive is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Our man Joel is on the scene at the announcement in Cologne and says that it’s a co-op focused stealth game with biological enemies, like the intense gribblies you see above but that’s just a “glimpse” of how bad it gets.
