Konami: PES 2016 Is Closing Gap on Federation Internationale de Football Association

As far as presentation is concerned, this year’s PES impresses and takes another step forward, despite a couple of downsides.

The outlet particularly cited how the graphics of the game is flawed when it still failed to capture the face of Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu. Gone are the days of 16-bit isometric football when every player would look the same. There are a wealth of online options with which to humiliate yourself, from one-off matches to ten-game leagues and further bespoke tournaments. Although ultimately it’s a game that has improved by developing its biggest strength – intelligence. Exhibition matches, online matches and training modes are standard, with Divisions being PES’ iteration of FIFA’s Online Seasons – which plonks you against an opponent as you rise up the ranks, and thankfully it’s just as addictive as FIFA’s. For folks who crave more dialed down mechanics, more responsive controls and something that feels less arcadey, however, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 takes the crown on consoles this year. PES 2016’s referees are too lenient, so neither game is yet to nail the art of totting up and dishing out punishment when it’s truly needed. It was a valiant effort but ultimately fell short.

Having played the demos for both of the 2016 editions of both games I know it will be PES 2016’s year again, as they have by far the best game this time around.

On TalkSport recently, professional bellower Stan Collymore opined that around 80 per cent of goals come from crosses, and that seems about right in PES 2016.

However, it is a little worrying that this serves as arguably the biggest headline about the game, rather than a reboot of the physics engine, or how the game itself plays. Every month, you’ll see that you’ve conceded goals from through balls more than any other type of play.

All these adjustments to animation, dribbling, and shooting lead to what EA is calling Moments of Magic, which feels like a misguided attempt to define something that’sbeen part of Federation Internationale de Football Association for years.is still capable of lifting me out of my chair in surprise, delight, and raw, unrestrained joy.

The Master League offers a management system which, although still light, is more packed than ever.

Not only has on-the-pitch had a facelift but off-the-pitch modes as well. Although, in reality, neither Chelsea or Manchester City, or their awkwardly-named doppelgangers, have much Champions League hope. You pick a team, you troil this team through glory and reap all the rewards and success. Jostling and angling for position is now just as vital as what you do when you are in possession. You are able to customize or select the default build of up to three strategy lines and implement them into your current game.

Again this is not flawless and sometimes your computer controlled players will make you shout at the screen with their decisions, but it’s getting there. Most changes are subtle and effective. (And, as this is a football game, not in a good way.) Like last year’s entry, it seems to have more in common with the last-gen, PS3 and 360 versions of PES 2016 than the shinier PS4 and Xbox One releases, and as you can imagine, the Steam page houses a load of negative reviews. Well, we don’t want any of our readers missing out, so I’ve decided to create a new post, and link out to each giveaway to give the others of nabbing a key. It’s fast, fluid and exciting to play. Newcomers will likely find it the most user-friendly way to play Pro Evo – controlling a single person is much less complex than managing an entire club – but longtime players may be dismayed by its lack of updates. On the bright side, the game’s famous copyright-skirting edit mode has been improved-at least on PS4-to allow for much easier importing of fan-made content. I downloaded some files and followed some instructions here and after about an hour’s work had a full Premier League complete with badges, armbands, kits, crests and managers (see image below).
