Krispy Kreme shares off 11% on weak packaged food sales

( KKD ) on Wednesday reported an increase in profit for the second quarter, as revenues increased reflecting strong same-store sales. During the trading, the value of each share was $15.5, dropping -12.58%. The company reported $0.15 EPS for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $0.19 by $0.04, AnalystRatingsNetwork.com reports. The company has a market cap of $1,001 million and the number of outstanding shares have been calculated to be 63,985,000 shares. (NYSE:KKD) stands at $25.5 according to 2 Analysts.

Making matters worse, CFO George Price Cooper said during the company’s conference call with analysts that the return rates from Krispy Kreme’s wholesale partners was higher than normal. The 1-year stock price history is in the range of $14.62 – $22.32. “If our experience with the brand in the Dominican Republic is any indication, the Peruvian people will quickly embrace Krispy Kreme’s® signature sweet treats, including our famous Original Glazed® doughnut, coffee and assorted beverages”.

KKD closed Wednesday’s trading at $17.73, down $0.14 or 0.78%, on the NYSE.

The stock set fresh 52-week lows on the news, and now trades at the lowest price-to-free-cash-flow ratios seen in two years. This year, the DJSI World – one of the most highly regarded sustainability indices – includes 317 global companies identified as leaders in the areas of sustainable economic, environmental and social performance. Janney Montgomery Scott reiterated a “buy” rating on shares of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in a research report on Friday, June 12th. The company’s revenue for the quarter was up 9.0% compared to the same quarter a year ago.
