Kristen Stewart to star in Karl Lagerfeld’s film

Kristen Stewart is set to star in a new biopic about Coco Chanel, directed by Karl Lagerfeld. The Chanel designer is known for creating the wardrobe staple, the little black dress.

The short was filmed over two days in director Luc Besson’s Paris studio last month and will premiere at Chanel’s next Metiers d’Arts show in Rome on December 1. Most of the filming has been done in a corridor.

Karl cast the film, designed the costumes and wrote the dialogue. “She played it really, really mean“, described Lagerfeld of Stewart’s portrayal. “She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer”.

Stewart, who’s the face of Chanel and is often seated in the front row at the fashion house’s runway shows, plays an actress impersonating Coco Chanel.

However, its does get just slightly confusing Kristen Stewart will actually be playing an actress, playing Coco Chanel, whilst Geraldine Chaplin (daughter of Charlie) will be playing a middle-aged Coco directing K-Stew in a fictional biopic. She’s done her best to show she can be more than Bella with movies like American Ultra, Snow White and the Huntsman, Still Alice, and now, she’s even taking on one designer role. The shooting for the film will start by the end of this year. Stewart has previously starred in ad campaigns for the brand as well. She became the first American actor to win a Cesar (France’s Oscar equivalent) for the film.
