Kristian Dyer’s 3 things we learned as the Giants beat the Saints
Sometimes, the chemistry never develops. Last year, New Orleans converted six of 10 third down opportunities vs. the Giants.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said “all the news is positive” on cornerback P.J. Williams after he sustained a concussion Sunday against the New York Giants, and he will return to New Orleans sometime Monday afternoon.
One of the scariest moments of Sunday’s National Football League action came in the Saints-Giants game, when New Orleans cornerback P.J. The Raiders needed a late 2-point conversion to pull out a 35-34 victory in the Superdome in Week 1 and the New York Giants hit a field goal as time expired to beat visiting New Orleans 16-13 on Sunday.
The Giants’ improvements – the additions of cornerback Janoris Jenkins, defensive end Olivier Vernon and defensive tackle Damon Harrison – proved to be the bigger improvements. The Saints managed to be the first team to have a quarterback throw for 400 yards, 4 touchdowns, no interceptions, and lose last week. Manning finished the game 32 of 41 for 368 yards in the win for NY.
Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul says the defence is a lot better than a year ago.
“That’s a good quarterback out there and everybody knows that”, he said. “We took care of the ball well last week other than one minor incident, but this week, we need to do a better job, we need to clean that up”. It’s not often to force three of them.
The Giants dominated the first half, but they were in danger of falling behind just before halftime when James Laurinaitis recovered Manning’s fumble at the NY 25 after he was sacked by Michael Mauti. The Saints could start making more noise in the NFC South, but everyone is going to have to come together. It was one of the few through the first two games in which a receiver caught a pass and was able to make a move upfield for any extra yardage at all.
“I just heard the hand hit the ball and I just went looking for the ball and it was a ideal bounce and I just scooped and scored”, Jenkins said. He did, however, score the only offensive TD of the day for either team. “We just take pride in coming out, working hard every day and improving on Sunday”, Jenkins said after Sunday’s game.
“We’ve got some great leadership in the locker room and it really shined through in this ballgame”, Giants coach Ben McAdoo said.
WR Sterling Shepard: It’s impossible to ignore the impact the rookie is having.
Giants’ treatment of The Duke – The Giants fumbled on three straight first-half possessions. Then teammate Craig Robertson’s leg hit Williams’ head, causing his neck to whiplash a second time.

After a nail-biter win the week before in Dallas, the Giants were the more dominant team on both sides of the ball in Week 2 but turnovers kept them from pulling away from the Saints. RT Marshall Newhouse’s right foot was in a boot after suffering a calf strain, and Bobby Hart finished the game at his position. Kicker Josh Brown would make a 23-yard field goal in the game’s final moments for the win. “Long week last week”.
