Kumble, Rajput, Amre appear for India coach interview
The final announcement is expected to be made by board chief Anurag Thakur on Friday during the body’s annual general meeting in Dharamsala. Ganguly is member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, assigned to pick the next India head coach.

Terming the incident as “messed up” he said, “It’s unbelievable how life is”.
However Patil said that he has full faith in the CAC which has big names like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Out of all the applicants Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Anil Kumble were spotted at the premises.
“Among overseas men, we spoke to Moody, Law and Moles via Skype”, said Ganguly, who left the interview midway to attend a working committee meeting of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
“We have interviewed around 10 candidates and each of them have made their presentations”.
Shastri, considered the frontrunner for the job, was recently involved as the Indian cricket team’s “Team Director”, a post he held since September 2014.
Rajput had a none-too-bright global career, turning out for India in only two Tests and four ODIs.
Amre played 11 Tests and 37 ODIs in the early 90s, coached the Mumbai team to three Ranji titles, but is more well-known as a personal coach-mentor to quite a few Indian batsmen – Ajinkya Rahane (amongst the present lot, besides Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik too).
“I have never had the chance of giving an interview (for the team India coaching job)”.
The BCCI had received 57 applications in response to its advertisement for what is probably the most challenging coaching job in worldwide cricket. He has coached the national teams of Hong Kong, Kenya, Scotland, New Zealand, and Afghanistan over the past 15 years.
“It was also a good learning experience for me as the panel wanted to know exactly how I would achieve the objective of [helping] India become the No. 1 team in all forms”, Amre said.

Among the important qualifications listed in the advertisement included coaching experience at the global or first-class level.
