Three Turkish soldiers were killed and 24 others were injured in auto bomb attacks by militants in southeastern Turkey on Thursday, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported on Friday.

Since a two-year ceasefire between the government and the PKK disintegrated last July, Turkish security forces have launched a major campaign against the PKK in southeast Turkey, leaving over 260 members of Turkey’s security forces and thousands of PKK members killed.

President Tayyip Erdogan has said more than 300 members of the security forces have died, while the pro-Kurdish opposition says hundreds of civilians have also been killed. An offshoot of the PKK has also staged deadly suicide bombings in the capital, Ankara.

“Due to the upcoming operation against the separatist terrorist organization PKK a permanent curfew has been introduced in all areas of the [Silvan] district from 11.00 [09:00 GMT] March 25 until further notice”, District Governor Murat Kutuk said in a statement.

In the latest in a series of air strikes in northern Iraq, Turkish F-16 and F-4 jets destroyed PKK ammunition depots and shelters in the Avasin and Basyan areas on Thursday afternoon, the military said.
