Kurt Russell Eyed for Big ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Role!

Director James Gunn revealed back in April that family will play a big part in the sequel, saying, “There’s a lot of stuff I’m excited about in the new movie”. According to the site, Russell is yet to be offered the role, nor has he read the script, but negotiations are expected to take place soon. I’m still excited about Star-Lord’s character and where he goes. But, if Gunn is eyeing Russell for the role, it does give us an indication for the look and style of the character. Until then you can next see Russell in Quentin Tarantino’s new one, The Hateful Eight which is out January 8, 2016.

But if it all pans out, Russell makes so much sense as he is certainly part of that earlier generation of heroic screen presences who winged it more often than not – the sort Peter Quill emulates as he tours the galaxy. He also snagged a key role alongside Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg‘s Deepwater Horizon.

Chris Pratt will return as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, along with Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Pom Klementieff.

Production is set to begin next year, with a release date slated for May 5, 2017. Who Russell would be playing, aside from his familial relations, would likely be kept secret, or at least as secret as Marvel can considering the interest.
