Kuznetsova edges Pliskova to reach semis, Muguruza knocked out — WTA Finals
Kerber won the Australian Open and the U.S. Open this season, and reached the Wimbledon final. Plus, she wants to prove once again why she is the No. 1 player in the land.

And when it comes to national honours, her story has been just as enduring.
Indian ace Sania Mirza and Switzerland’s Martina Hingis entered the semi-finals after beating Taiwanese combination of Hao-Ching Chan and Yung Jan Chan 7-6 (12-10), 7-5. “She’s been playing incredible tennis all year, on every surface”. She laughed off the fact that her twin sister has been posting Instagram photos of her holiday, happy in the knowledge that by the time she takes her break, Kristyna will be back in training.
And now, she has become the talk of the WTA Finals.
“I’m not surprised at all”, Pliskova said. “But after doing well in the Fed Cup I thought, I can do it”, she added. Radwanska has excellent shot placement, nimble touch and delivers deft drop shots to throw off her opponents.
“She had an answer for everything”, Radwanska said. Today I have a day off. “Just something that I need to work on”.
She proved her point.
A surprise finalist, Cibulkova booked her spot in the title match when she fought back from the brink of defeat to overhaul a tired Svetlana Kuznetsova 1-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 in a thriller at Singapore s Indoor Stadium.
The Czech star was unable to maintain the fightback as Radwanska then broke her on two consecutive service games to regain the upper hand and ultimately seal a 7-5, 6-3 triumph.
Although she finished at the top of the White Group and advanced to the semifinals at the WTA Finals, Kuznetsova missed her chance at 600 career wins and a flawless record heading into the tournament’s final four. She also said on Thursday after wrapping up Round Robin play win over Miadson Keys that ” I know that how to play & how to focus on the court what I’m doing”.
The Russian took the first set but then only won one more game as she was battered 3-6 6-0 6-1 by the Spaniard. It is elite company indeed-but none of them are in Singapore this week.
Kuznetsova arrived with a poor record at the year-ending championships, failing to get past the round robin stage in five previous attempts in a format she has struggled to master.
“You just wait and pray that her first serve isn’t going to be in and take you chances on the second serve”.
Will she pick up that 600th win?

“It doesn’t matter if I play like crap and I’m sore, I will just be there competing”.
