Ky. delegates on Cruz: ‘Stick a fork in him’
In a 25-minute speech, the only references Cruz made to the presidential election were those to his own failed campaign and a call for Republicans to “come together and unite in the defense of liberty” to “defeat Hillary Clinton in the presidential election”. That’s within the poll’s 4 point margin of error, meaning the two candidates are virtually tied.

Many Republicans expected Trump to pivot from his controversial pre-convention proposals. Democrats are set to meet in Philadelphia next week for their convention to tap Hillary Clinton and her VP pick, Senator and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.
Ted Cruz defended his decision not to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC.
Cruz’s speech Wednesday and comments Thursday drew an immediate and visceral rebuke from Trump supporters gathered in Cleveland.
Donald Trump in a new interview said he didn’t let the speechwriter who wrote his wife’s scrutinized Republican National Convention speech resign because of how the staffer handled her error. And almost every speaker that yelled at their senator implored him to endorse Trump, with Cruz repeatedly declining to give an inch.

“I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father”, Senator Cruz told a meeting of the Texas delegation in Cleveland. “I addressed the convention because Trump asked me to”. Ted Cruz took the stage.
McIver said she offered the Trumps her resignation but that they rejected it.
“Saying I’m going to vote for and support Donald Trump doesn’t mean I endorse everything about him”. The Republican nominee said Heidi is the “best thing he’s got going”.
The presidential nominee’s acceptance speech is nearly always the most important event at a convention because it allows a nominee to speak directly to a huge swath of the electorate.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would not accept an endorsement from one-time rival candidate Sen.
The top issues discussed on Facebook during his speech – in which laid out a bleak assessment of the US today and vowed to be a law and order president – were immigration, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and crime. He said Friday he would not accept an endorsement from Texas Sen.

They also represented a seemingly inevitable reappearance of Trump’s irrepressible id. Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders endorsed her only earlier this month, and even then, there was lingering dissatisfaction from some of the Vermont senator’s supporters. “You don’t just put on red jerseys and blue jerseys and say ‘yay!’ This is about principles”.
