KY Gov.-Elect to Drop Clerk Names from Marriage Forms
Davis says all she wants is to have her name removed from marriage licenses, but the current governor says that takes an act of the legislature. State law requires county clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally qualified couples.

Bevin vowed to remove the names of county clerks from the marriage forms by issuing an executive order. But Davis believes it would be a sin for her to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple.
Kentucky’s newly elected attorney general said he hopes Republican Gov.-elect Matt Bevin will consult him and his office before acting to dismantle the state’s health insurance exchange or scale back its Medicaid program. After she refused to do so, a federal judge threw her in jail for five days in September.
But Pitt is best known in Frankfort as one of the attorneys who defended Gov. Ernie Fletcher on misdemeanor charges in 2005-06 in then-Attorney General Greg Stumbo’s investigation of hiring abuses during the Fletcher administration.
“Gov.-elect Bevin’s impending executive order is a welcome relief for Kim Davis and should be for everyone who cherishes religious freedom”, Staver said in a statement.

“That is going to be done”, Bevin continued, according to Louisville TV station WLKY.
