Carl Edwards started the race from the pole position for the second consecutive week.

Is the first to sweep both the Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series races at Indianapolis.

Upon the restart, the first wreck occurred when Clint Boyer’s vehicle got loose, claiming the cars of Jeff Gordon and Alex Bowman.

Andrew Ranger won for a record 20th time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in the No. 27 MOPAR Dodge Saturday at Autodrome St-Eustache, edging the No. 02 Johnsonville Ford of Mark Dilley in a green-white-checkers finish in the Lucas Oil National 250. Blaney felt that he had lost control of his auto for a brief second and took full blame.

Behind the scenes, teams fumed all weekend that Gene Stefanyshyn, NASCAR’s vice president of racing development and the architect for the Indianapolis aero package, was on a family vacation and not even at Indy. Harvick led four times for a dominant 75 laps. Of the 16 lead changes that occurred in the Brickyard 400, the majority occurred on restarts or when the leader elected to pit. Where normally he would be locked in and could take it easy the final six races before the end of the regular part of the Sprint Cup season, Bush still has a massive hill to climb if he is going to be in the title hunt.

Holding off Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano during three late-race restarts, Busch beat Logano to the finish line by.

The victory checked off another box of “big races won” for Busch over his career. Despite a valiant charge by Logano, Busch held on to win his first Brickyard 400. “Nothing better than being in victory lane for one of the biggest wins in my career at Indy and sweeping the week”. “Second hurts”. “It always does”. And would also prove the routine boasts that “winning is everything” in NASCAR officially incorrect.

“This has been a phenomenal return”, Busch said. This Skittles Camry was awesome. “He drafted on me a couple of times, but if you just protect the bottom and not let that guy get a chance inside of you, you’re really going to mess him up”.

After missing the season’s first 11 races with a broken right leg and a broken left foot, Busch has been virtually unbeatable. He missed the first eleven races of the season.

Continued his relentless advance toward the top 30 in the standings and consequent eligibility for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoffs.

Kyle began his racing career at the age of 13, racing and winning local Legends vehicle championships.

Busch got that win on the Sonoma road course and has followed it up with wins at Kentucky, New Hampshire and now Indianapolis to put him just 23 points out of that coveted 30th spot.

All four Gibbs cars have qualified for the Chase for the Sprint Cup and JGR appears to be primed for a championship push. We can’t have bad days.

Jeff Gordon’s final race at The Brickyard didn’t go quite as planned, but it wasn’t enough to affect the veteran NASCAR driver’s cheery attitude. Engine exhaust piped under the floor pans of each auto is manageable through driver’s intake of fluids, ice packs and cooling units that send cool air into the driver’s helmets.

Helton is correct that drivers often want different things from the race vehicle.

“I don’t care what people say”, he said. Thank the good Lord for bringing me back when he did. Those with more horsepower had the opportunity to gain more downforce for handling in the corners without paying too much of a drag penalty on the straight.
